Senior Digital Strategist

Location: Parnell, Auckland
Job Purpose
The Senior Digital Strategist will be responsible for delivering sustainable revenue growth by actively identifying, pursuing, and converting new business opportunities. Operating within the New Zealand digital marketing landscape, this individual will utilise their comprehensive understanding of SEO, Google Ads, Social Advertising, and Web Development to offer tailored solutions that meet clients’ strategic objectives. Reporting to the General Manager, with a dotted line to the Founder, this role involves developing and executing robust sales strategies, nurturing client relationships, and consistently achieving sales targets.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy and Execution
- Adopt a proactive ‘hunter’ mentality to identify and engage new prospects, positioning the company’s digital marketing and web development services as indispensable.
- Develop and implement a clear individual sales plan, aligning KPIs and revenue goals with the company’s strategic direction.
- Prepare compelling sales proposals, customising digital strategies to address clients’ distinct requirements and growth objectives.
- Negotiate contract terms, secure profitable deals, and consistently demonstrate value to ensure long-term client commitments.
Client Relationship Management
- Act as the primary liaison for clients, ensuring clear and responsive communication throughout the sales cycle.
- Conduct thorough consultations to understand clients’ business challenges, key metrics, and performance targets.
- Build and maintain lasting relationships, identifying opportunities to upsell and cross-sell complementary services as clients’ needs evolve.
Market and Industry Insight
- Stay abreast of evolving industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in SEO, Google Ads, Social Advertising, and Web Development.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to refine service offerings, utilising market feedback and client data.
- Educate clients on the value and return on investment of recommended solutions, reinforcing trust and credibility.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with digital marketers, developers, and project and account managers to facilitate seamless onboarding and project execution.
- Clearly articulate client expectations, timelines, and deliverables to internal teams, ensuring efficient handoffs and quality outcomes.
- Participate in regular team meetings, offering insights to enhance service offerings and improve the client experience.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities, prospects, and pipeline forecasts, using CRM and relevant tools.
- Track and analyse sales metrics to inform strategy, refine approach, and optimise outcomes.
- Provide periodic updates to the General Manager and Founder/Sales Director, highlighting successes, challenges, and planned improvements.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: At least 5 years’ proven experience selling digital marketing services in the New Zealand market, consistently meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
- Digital Marketing Knowledge: In-depth understanding of SEO, Google Ads, social media advertising strategies, and the web development process.
- Sales Proficiency: Strong consultative selling skills, adept at identifying opportunities, negotiating effectively, and closing deals.
- Client Management: Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to foster strong client relationships and manage expectations at all levels.
- Analytical Insight: Comfortable interpreting KPIs, campaign performance metrics, and analytics to guide recommendations and refine strategies.
- Technical Literacy: Familiarity with digital marketing platforms, CRM systems, and project management tools.
